Edinburgh UX event - 2 October 2012

There's a really interesting sounding session happening next week in Edinburgh - Driven to distraction: a presentation by Giles Colborne from cxpartners. It's the latest event put on by UXPA Scotland (was the Scottish UPA).

The focus of the session is on how usability studies need to reflect the 'always on' culture of today - multiple tabs in browsers, multiple devices, multiple media channels all distracting us constantly. As the synopsis says:

"...practice in the field of HCI is rooted in 1970s computing - a world that seems laughably out of date."
I'm quite a fan of the work of cxpartners.com and the book they produced recently. So am really looking forward to the session.
