Persuasive design - enhanced usability?

Persuasive design has been around for a long time, but usually associated with 'bad' things like fast food, gambling and so on. An interesting article targeted at usability professionals which argues that "...persuasive design should be your next skill set".

It's an interesting article with much food for thought - even if you're not a usability professional - and lots of online and offline examples to illustrate the points made.

I recently blogged about psychologist Susan Weinschenk's website and have since bought her book "What makes them click?" which is more of the same kind of thing - applying psychological principles to website design.

The article contains lots of links. One in particular caught my eye; Stephen Anderson’s Mental Notes cards are also worth a look.
