Nielsen usability report free to University of Edinburgh staff

The Nielsen Norman group report "College Students on the Web" is available to University of Edinburgh staff on a site license.

A while ago, I blogged about an article Jakob Nielsen wrote about some research his company had done with university and college students worldwide. The article was basically promoting and summarising a report they'd written.

The interest in this was tremendous, so having read the full report we decided to extend the license so that all web publishers in the University could benefit.

To be honest, there's a lot of detail in there that will be of interest to only a few. However, the first 30 or so pages are something everyone should read at least once. If certain aspects of what is summarised in this opening chapter are of particular interest, the detail is there to dip into.

"230 user testing tips" is also available to download from the web publisher support wiki. Again, we have the site license for this Nielsen Norman group publication.
